Orizzonte Sistemi Navali signed a contract today, July 31, 2024, with OCCAR (Organisation Conjointe de Coopération en matière d'Armement) worth approximately 1.5 billion euros for the construction of two new FREMM frigates in the "EVOLUTION" version, called "FREMM EVO".
This agreement will soon allow the Italian Navy to receive two additional naval units, updated with state-of-the-art systems and equipped with the latest generation capabilities. These new frigates will be able to meet the increasingly stringent operational requirements imposed by the complex current and future geopolitical context.
The FREMM EVO units will strengthen the Italian Navy's fleet, which currently includes 10 FREMM, with two more units nearing delivery.
