Within the Ship Engineering and Architecture Department, we are currently seeking a Technical Manager. In this pivotal role, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the seamless execution of assigned projects in alignment with contractual obligations and company protocols. This entails meticulous planning and execution of the engineering process while effectively managing available resources. The Technical Manager's contribution is integral to achieving program objectives, enhancing customer satisfaction, and upholding the Company's commitment to excellence in Whole Warship integration.

Activities and Responsibilities

  • Plan the engineering process of the program and negotiate plans and investments in terms of activities, resources and direct costs, in coordination with the Area Managers and the Department Manager.
  • Participate, in collaboration with the Operational Area Managers, in the overall planning of the program
  • Identify and assess any technical risks of the project and propose mitigation measures in coordination with the Risk Coordinator
  • Contribute in identifying and planning critical and priority activities, related to order management in coordination with the responsible Program Manager and with the major sub-suppliers based on the Order Management Plan
  • In coordination with the Area Managers, when planning the assigned project, it must take into account the needs of the resources assigned to any support activities outside the relevant project (training of collaborators, improvement actions)
  • Provide, if the program so requires, in the pre-contractual phase, with the assigned resources, to provide technical support for contract acquisition activities, directly intervening or directing collaborators in relations with customers and suppliers/partners and creating technical offer and contractual documents, in accordance with the identified services and costs
  • Conduct, as part of the coordination of the purchasing manager, technical negotiations with suppliers/partners to define the competence aspects of the purchasing specifications and participate in the selection of supplies
  • Coordinate the internal or external resources assigned to the project for compliance with the quality, time and cost requirements of the project and studies concerning company products and for the specification of third-party products, ensuring technical consistency in order to obtain performance that meets contractual specifications
  • Ensure the technical interface with the customer for the competence project in coordination with the PM
  • Maintain continuous communication with operational area and function managers and with those responsible for other projects to contribute to the improvement of process efficiency
  • Control the progress of internal and/or external activities related to the project, agreeing and activating recovery actions in order to achieve the technical cost and time objectives agreed with the PM and the Function Manager
  • Contribute to the supply control process by participating, for technical aspects, in audits and progress checks
  • Conduct technical design reviews
  • Conduct the execution of the acceptance and qualification phases of the project
  • Monitor project risks in accordance with standard methodologies and program needs and implement related mitigation measures
  • Contribute to the definition of metrics and indicators for measuring project efficiency and quality
  • Analyze the metrics collected in order to define improvement actions in collaboration with the Head of Function
  • Operate by introducing innovation and managing the resulting technological and strategic aspects

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Electronics/Telecommunications/Naval/Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in similar positions
  • Good ability to use the main tools of the Microsoft Office package and Project
  • Good knowledge of English for managing documentation and technical and relationships with suppliers
  • Willingness to transfer and transfers on national and international territory
  • Knowledge of the French language is to be considered a preferred qualification.
  • Personal characteristics such as interpersonal skills, strong orientation to team working and the ability to react positively to work pressure while maintaining control and remaining focused on the priorities and objectives assigned by one's manager are considered fundamental.
