Ship Engineering and Architecture

The Ship Engineering and Architecture Function operates within two distinct operational realms: Ship Integration and Logistics Engineering. Its primary mandate is to uphold the Design Authority responsibility for naval units by fostering robust system, design, and executive capacities essential for the entire product lifecycle.

This involves spearheading project development and conducting comprehensive analyses to ensure product supportability. Additionally, the function defines requirements and determines the scope of related support systems, encompassing elements such as manuals, training, inventory, infrastructure, and vehicles.

Activities and Responsibilities

  • Take charge of and pursue the time and cost objectives established by the Project Manager
  • Take charge and operate using the methodologies and tools established by the Project Manager
  • Contribute to the identification of technical risks
  • Support the definition of training plans and requirements
  • Participate, in collaboration with system engineering, in the drafting of technical and project specifications for supportability and logistics aspects (thus ensuring consistency between supportability studies and product requirements)
  • Implement the ship's operational readiness analyses with the appropriate software tools
  • Implement Vessel-level RM-T studies (including maintainability assessment)
  • Ensure maintenance plan optimization (LSA) activity
  • Carry out FRACAS-type activities
  • Develop analyses to support the provisioning process (inventories and STTE)
  • Define test strategies, identifying system testing requirements
  • Take care of the trade-offs for the project for the supportability of the systems, including the availability analysis and the evaluation of the LCC (Life Cycle Cost) with the appropriate SW tools
  • Define and validate the SOC maintainers
  • Define the requirements of logistics products: technical manuals and courses, instrumentation and support equipment, PHST (Packaging, Handling, Storage, Transportation) and infrastructures
  • Define and ensure the development of logistics databases (LSAR) Vessel
  • Define program guidelines and ensure the development of ship manuals (IETP)
  • Check the project documents/studies in relation to the parts that have an impact on maintainability (technical specifications, plans and general arrangements, removal routes and machine landings, material flows of respect), and draw up the related check lists
  • Check the maintenance plan for each of the elements (systems) constituting the product
  • Verify the RM-T (Reliability, Maintainability, Testability) studies implemented for Platform and Combat System systems/apparatuses associated with support elements
  • Apply the measures envisaged by the program's contractual indicators (KPIs)
  • Carry/verify the sizing of the stocks that may be proposed by the suppliers
  • Check the ILS Technical Specifications developed by suppliers for RAM-T (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Testability) aspects
  • Check the databases (LSAR) and ensure the validation of the related IETPs with the appropriate SW tools.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Electronics/Telecommunications/Mechanics Engineering
  • Minimum 4-8 years of experience in similar positions, preferably in shipbuilding programs
  • Good ability to use TOOL SW in the ILS field (e.g. OPUS, SIMLOX, etc...)
  • Conducting reliability growth programs
  • Good knowledge of English (B1 preferred) for managing documentation and technical and relationships with suppliers
  • Willingness to transfer and transfers on national and international territory
  • Knowledge of the French language is to be considered a preferred qualification.
  • Personal characteristics such as interpersonal skills, strong orientation to team working and the ability to react positively to work pressure while maintaining control and remaining focused on the priorities and objectives assigned by one's manager are considered fundamental.

  • Logistic Support Systems (ILS)
  • ILS disciplines (RAM-T, RAM-T, LSA, HF, LCC)
  • Configuration Management
  • Human Factor
  • Obsolete Management.
